Fourth volume in the series of paperbacks which collect issues of the comic 'Deadly Class.' Set in the 80's, it's the story of Marcus. A teenager who joins a school for assassins.
This volume collects issues seventeen to twenty one of the comic. It divides them up by using chapter pages.
As with previous volumes there's a lot of violence, adult moments and strong language, so this is a comic strictly for mature readers.
There is some exposition as to what has gone before, but the amount of backstory built up by now means this isn't a good jumping on point. New readers should start with book one.
This picks up from the end of book three, with all the unaffiliated students at the school - the 'rats' - now subject of a hunt to the death by their own classmates. It's kill or be killed. Literally. Who will survive? And who can be trusted? Many very hard and terrible choices are going to have to be made..
Best volume yet in a superb series. There are stunning action sequences, which as always also manage to feel very realistic. But also the whole thing is superbly character driven. People make choices and do things that come totally out of their character, rather than the needs of the plot. And nobody is invincible, so you will be left on tenterhooks to the end desperate to see who is going to survive, and what will happen next.
Said ending will make you desperate for volume five.
Another brilliant read in a superb series.
