Highly recommend this headset,.the sound quality is brilliant and battery life is long lasting, I haven't recharged it in well over a week. And still indicating over 100% despite using it most evenings. It's extra easy to set up on PC, I'm unsure on console. My previous headset was a steel series arctice pro and I would argue that the Hyper X is significantly better and cheaper.
My previous statement still stands however.
The Battery life despite being long, the product deliberately misleads you as to how much battery charge it has. The moment you switch it on the there is a voice message saying battery 100% and it is not the case. It had been a while since I'd last charged the headset but it died within minutes of it telling me it was fully charged.
It's 300 hour battery life is a lie . Even the product itself is deliberately manufactured to lie to you
UPDATE 7/27/22: Do not use ngenuity app it suggests from HyperX. There is a known issue with it basically breaking the audio you recieve and no target for patch. I was afraid mine broke just outside the return date. This unfortunately means you can't use all the features the headphones advertise (like DTX sound). The headphones are still great tho.
I would love to give these headphones 5/5. They have great audio you'd expect, and I haven't even touched the software you can use to make them better. The detachable headphone and notification if muted is super easy and convenient. All the buttons are intuitive and easy to use (though wish you didn't have to hold the power button as long to turn on). USB C charging, Not very heavy on the head, and if it does get anywhere close to 300 hours advertised then that's amazing and beats all competition at this point!
The reasons it's not 5/5 is because of what I've come to expect from the 2 other hyper x gaming headsets I've gotten. For some reason when I bought these they were $200 not the MSRP $179, on top of this it does not come with a carry pouch for the headset and the accessories (like prior headsets). The reason I point this out is because the accessory I've come to love are the alternate headphone cups that are a more breathable fabric, since the default leather ones can really get hot during long sessions. The pouch and other things are also nice for a $200 headset. Luckily I was able to use my prior headset fabric ones, so wasn't as big a deal, but wasn't the easiest to get on.
Overall it's a great package but if you need something more breathable you should look at others, try squeezing your old cups on, or possibly buying some third hand party cups.
First review (29 October 2022) Battery life is very nice, but when empty than there is no warning. Sometimes i check battery level with the power button (says battery level is 100%) Yesterday it died without any warning and i checked battery level couple of times and it told 100%, before dieing.
Only battery level indicators are 100% and turns off without warning.
Update review (10 nov 2022)
Today after charging the headset told first time "battery level 90%" Still sound quality is good, battery live is amazing. Recommend !
The headset itself is great. I have had a set of cloud alphas for 5 years now and had no problem, except the pesky wire, so once HyperX released this, I bought it hoping it would be great. Pros: 300+ hours of battery life. Yes, it really does last that long. I've been using it for 2 weeks as of writing the review and still have 70%. Super nice to have. Decent distance for wireless. I have gotten roughly 10 meters through 2 walls, but it varies. Sounds just like the wired ones
Cons: ***This might be a deal breaker for many people, but currently there is a fuzzy white noise/static noise whenever the headset is on. I don't notice it except when I have no audio running, but it is pretty annoying.*** Software is absolute trash tbh. On one PC I can only download from the windows store, and the other for some reason only runs from the exe downloaded on their site.
I've considered other headsets but after my time with this one, I can't imagine how annoying it would be to charge a headset every couple of days. These really feel like they will never run out. Annoying static noise and software issues aside, this is the ideal headset for me and I notice no sound issues whatsoever.
