Optiken verkar vara mycket bra. Förstoringen kan dock inte vara 1000x, men det hade jag inte räknat med heller. Jag är mycket nöjd med funktionen. Ger en klar och tydlig bild. Interfacet med PC fungerar också perfekt. Ofta reflekteras dock ljuset i lacken, så jag använder ofta externt ljus och testar olika vinklar för bästa bild.

I would happily recommended this to anyone who is looking for a starter/cheap microscope, that said I have two very small issues with it, the first is that the stand has no weight to it so if you knock the table that it is on the microscope vibrates (a bit of a pain when recording a video) , the second is that, if you leave it plugged in via the USB without having launched the software you are unable to turn the light off from the button on the side of the microscope.
Don't let these two things stop you from buying this or indeed having fun with it, as I am sure you want to know what is under the end of your finger nail !

What am I using it for? The accompanying photos give some examples:
- Checking the condition of my record player stylus. There isn't enough magnification to show up serious stylus wear, but it did help me find and remove some fluff and gunk that had built up on it.
- Looking at old coins.
- Dating old silver by closely examining its hallmarks.
What's good about it?
- The image is clear and sharp with hardly any colour fringing.
- Easy of use with various platforms.
- Built-in LED illumination is adjustable via a button on the side and a rotary control incorporated in the cable.
- Variable magnification.
What could be better?
- The magnification/focus control is quite stiff and suffers from a little backlash. I find it's best to set it approximately right and then move the microscope or the object being examined until its image is sharp.
- The illumination - even when set to minimum - is still too bright when viewing reflective objects. Sometimes it's better to use a desk lamp. This also lets you light up the target from the side, bringing out its relief features.
- The supplied stand is only just usable. In particular the base isn't weighted, so it tends to tip over. I put a couple of old unwanted coins in the base and that has improved things.
In summary, this is a good microscope for the money and its minor deficiencies aren't hard to work around.

My car broke down and it was a problem with cracked solder on connector pins to a circuit board. I couldn’t see it with a magnifying glass, because they’re basically pinheads, but with this microscope could see in good detail the cracks in the solder. Carefully re-soldered the pin joints and thankfully it fixed the issue. (See before and after pictures)
Also had a problem with my phones selfie camera. I couldn’t quite see where the new part fitted. The microscope isn’t absolutely necessary if you have experience with phones, but for me with not great eyesight, made it clear to see the small detail and fit the new part in its proper place. Glad I bought it!
