The worst fan fiction ever

How on earth this apalling politically motivated fan fiction trash ever got
past the studio I'll never know.
Such a shame because the actors and actresses are really good as are the production values.
Burnham, the Empress and Pike are clear stand outs - they desperately need a capable writer.

Unfortunately the stories are clearly female written - lacking in logic (sic) and any form
of science fiction ethos of attempted or consistent scientific plausibility. There is a big
diffference between science fiction and science fantasy. Having a tense dramatic
scene based on not being able to solve a problem then seconds later coming back
with "I've looked at the data again and we can do it after all" is audience manipulation
of the worst kind. As for the person pushing his wheel-chair in the background -
well Star Trek doesn't seem to offer much hope for the dissabled in the future does it?
Presumably they've taken on board the myth that Star Trek is all inclusive and are determined
to get every race gender homosexual variation and dissability in every episode and never
mind the story - that's incidental.

Far too many women on and off screen looks to be the main issue.
As for the ability of every character to have intimate engineering knowledge of
everything - it's just hillarious.
When will they learn the Star Trek Voyager lesson?
This is beyond political correctness - it's simply inept.

You could write a book on what's wrong with this series - or maybe a trilogy.

WHAT CAN I SAY THIS IS A BRILLIANT SERIES SO UNDERRATED AND THE PRODUCTION VALUES ARE OF THE HIGHEST THE STORIES EVEN THOUGH TREKKIES ARE SAYING ITS NOT "CANON" REALLY NEED TO GO WATCH SOMETHING ELSE OR EMBRACE AND THINK WELL ITS ANOTHER STORY IN THE STAR TREK WORLD THE STORY IS GREAT AND THE CHARACTERS SO HONESTLY PORTRAYED AND BELIEVABLE AN EXCITING SERIES AND I FOR ONE CANT WAIT FOR THE 3RD SERIES TO COME IN 2020 DECIDE FOR YOURSELF AND DON'T BELIEVE THE CRITICS WHO ARE SO WRONG IN MY OPINION

Already had a quick look at the extras plus 2 episodes but having seen the series twice (and counting) I have no hesitation awarding 5 stars to a slick, well produced and superbly acted show. My new favourite Captain, described as an 'overgrown boy scout' who takes the helm in this series, AKA Captain Christopher Pike, played by the excellent Anson Mount, is what a Starfleet Captain should be in my opinion. (like William Shatner's portrayal of Kirk) and I'm delighted that Captain Pike, Number One', Mr. Spock AND the often overlooked 'USS Enterprise', also making a brief cameo in this series, have got their own show 'Strange New Worlds'. I have no doubt that it will be the cherry on the 'Discovery' cake with more tales of space derring do, shocks, surprises and humour. In other words, what I call a darn good yarn, just as 'Discovery' is and worth every penny of it's blu-ray loveliness!

I own every iteration of all series of Star Trek since 1966. I am and always shall be a Trekkie. Discovery is so unique amongst the Star Trek universe it stands out and it's just fantastic to watch ! Alas though, all good things must come to an end, and I hope it's my time before its. Live long and prosper.

Thoroughly enjoyable television series, which has the style and production values of a, major league, cinema film. I grew up with Star Trek, from the 1960s onwards. I've seen every episode of every series and have greatly enjoyed them all, but this series is a league apart. The characters are a refreshing change, I like each and every one of them and the visual effects, are the best I have ever seen on a tv programme, in fact, they are as good as any of the Star Trek cinema films and better than some. Outstanding stuff, thoroughly recommended.
