Build wise they seem really nicely made using good materials. The main material of the upper (so the grey bits on the ones I have) is almost like some sort of micro-suede - if you run you fingers over it you can make lighter or darker streaks. The material is quite thick and heavy duty which brings me on to some of the issues. These shoes are styled like trainers but they really are more like wearing normal shoes. The material of the upper is very stiff/thick with not a huge amount of flex. The soles are also very thick but at the same time lacking in padding/bounce. These are the first 'trainers' I've ever had that needed breaking in like formal leather shoes. They are also (I think due to the thick and solid soles) surprisingly heavy which can make wearing them tiring.
The other issue I had was the sizing. I nearly always take a 10, occasionally needing an 11 in some brands. The 10s in these had to go back as they were so small I was no where near to being able to get my feet in to them. I reordered in 11 and the jump up in size was pretty huge - felt like going up two sizes rather than one. The main Ted Baker website has a size guide including the Japanese system but I found that pretty inaccurate when the shoes arrived.
So in summary: they look good, they seem well made out of quality materials and good value, but are heavy, tiring to wear and the sizing seems inaccurate.
