5,0 av 5 stjärnor Supernova has to be one of the best conclusions to an epic trilogy about superheroes.
Recenserad i USA 🇺🇸 den 8 november 2019

Supernova has to be one of the best conclusions to an epic trilogy about superheroes. This story had all of my attention from the very start. I was hooked and soaked up every word, every action, every character, and every plot twist there was. I soared through Supernova and never wanted to put it down, and that’s saying something since I’ve been taking at least a week or two to finish a book. It was just that good for me!

This is something I hate about myself, but sometimes I let the hype of a book set my expectations very high, which leads me to be disappointed. So, I was afraid that I wasn’t going to love Supernova just like I didn’t really love Renegades and Archenemies in the beginning, but let me tell you about these turn of events when it comes to my feelings about this trilogy because of how wonderfully amazing Supernova was!

Supernova was amazing from start to finish! For me, it had the perfect balance of character scenes and development, plot twists, and action scenes. I was all over the place with my emotions. My heart was racing with so much anticipation at every action scene because the suspense was killing me! My heart stumbled and lurched with the heartbreaking plot twists and the feelings that Nova and Adrian experience. My heart swelled with warmth and love from the family scenes, the friendships, and especially with the relationship with Nova and Adrian (I might’ve even teared up at one part because I felt their emotions and just loved to see their relationship become rocky then overcome those rocky and hurtful situations).

I was on the edge of my seat because I just couldn’t fathom how the story was going to end when there was at least a 100 pages left. I wasn’t sure how Marissa was going to pull it off, but boy did she! She ended the story in a way that I never would have guessed. It didn’t feel rushed or hurried; it was like Marissa put in just the right amount of action that did feel like it was going on for so long nor did it feel like everything happened too quickly, and I applaud her for doing so. She did it so gracefully, it was great!

I could go on and on, but the last two important things I have to speak about is the freaking SPECTACULAR plot twists that you get throughout the entire book and THE ENDING! The fact that all these connections and clues are right in your face yet you don’t realize they are there until you finish the story and think about what just happened is simply mind blowing. With an exception of one plot twist, I was not expecting any of them–from Phobia’s background to the epilogue and everything between. Trust me when I say that I freaked out and had to sit back and say “ohhhhhmyfreakinggod” multiple times! I was shocked by everything and I absolutely loved it.

Now, THAT DANG FREAKING EPILOGUE! I did not see that coming and probably wouldn’t have seen it coming from a mile away! I was not expecting what had happened to actually happen. It didn’t even cross my mind yet when I think of it, the clues are right freaking there despite being small clues sprinkled throughout the story. But man, that epilogue makes way for something more to come from this world that Marissa built and I am honestly excited to see what’s next because there just has to be something new coming. I need more! As much as I am satisfied with the love that I have for this conclusion, I need the continuation of what I was given with that epilogue!

All in all, I can say so much more, but I’m going to end here and say again that it is one of the best conclusions to a series and I couldn’t have loved it more! It was purely amazing! Oh, and before I forget, Nova Artino’s entire character arc is truly so fascinating. I love her! Also, I adore Adrian so much more now. He’s too adorable and I just want to hug him! And Max!

This was quite the ending, to say the least. There were twists and turns, (love) confessions, heartbreak & forgiveness. A lot happens in this & it wasn't bad. I agree with a lot of other reviews where they talk about the ending & how it feels like this story is NOT over, but for now, we have some suspicions to think about & a pretty much wrapped up ending.

I think overall me listening to this trilogy via audiobook hindered my enjoyment of these books, but I definitely see myself going back & rereading passages if not all three books in the future.

5,0 av 5 stjärnor Eine meiner neuen Lieblingsreihen!
Recenserad i Tyskland 🇩🇪 den 10 juli 2020

3,0 av 5 stjärnor I feel like this series could have been two books instead of three
Recenserad i USA 🇺🇸 den 5 januari 2020

While I enjoyed reading SUPERNOVA, I really do feel like this series should have been two books. There was so much that happened in SUPERNOVA that I would have liked to see earlier on, likely in ARCHENEMIES, and it would have solved the issue that while ARCHENEMIES was also enjoyable, I didn't feel like enough really happened plot-wise to have it be a book of its own. Thinking about the series overall, I think a lot could have been cut down and condensed into two books. There were also a few moments where the pacing just felt odd, like some really long battle scenes, and I ended up losing focus.

The epilogue was definitely a stunner but... it was another thing that I really wanted to be in the second book and the open-ended question that's leftover could have been resolved in this book. I think that would have added nice depth to the plot and added a nice grab/twist in the second book because I really don't feel like there was much memorable about it, as entertaining as it was. I also wished I had more time to enjoy the contents of the epilogue. To be honest, I really don't want to continue this story any more so I'm actually hoping there ISN'T a spin-off. Not in a bad way, but I feel like a new series wouldn't offer a new enough plot and I don't want to continue the good vs. evil concept in a new series because I feel like too many of the same themes would be repeated.

I didn't really feel like I was waiting for too many answers in SUPERNOVA. I wanted to know what Phobia's backstory was (and we do find out and it is really cool) but that was just about it. Basically I kind of figured there would be a happy ending, which isn't a bad thing, but there were a few things that wrapped up a little too neatly. I felt like for everything that happened, Adrian and Nova ended up being all lovey-dovey a little too easily for all of the secrets and betrayals. There were some cool things that happened in the end to wrap things up but then a couple things unfolded that just felt a little TOO nice and neat. Some of the ending just kind of seemed to nullify the whole series? And start the cycle all over again.

I enjoyed the whole series and I had fun reading it but I don't think it's something I need to reread in the future. I enjoyed the original superhero story and I had fun spending time with these characters but I actually felt like the plot could have been improved upon and it lacked the connection that I've felt with other Marissa Meyer books.

4,0 av 5 stjärnor This conclusion was just...

This conclusion was just, wow, so incredible. Marissa Meyer did not come to play in Supernova. I am really glad actually that this became a trilogy because I do feel this story needed it. Even when I was reading book one, i thought to myself that there was no way this can get wrapped up in one more novel.

There were actually quite a few twists in this book that I did not see coming and for YA that is really hard to pull off. I mean, yes, when they were revealed I could piece together the bread crumbs that were laid out but to still deliver such an impact is a feat. Nova was always the main character I felt the most invested in but let me tell you Adrian was like you want to get invested, and I did. His revelation left me gobsmacked. Nova's revelation left me gobsmacked. THAT EPILOGUE HAD ME SO ELATED!!

Now Supernova did have some fallout which was nice but it also played it easy in the end. Also the villain, I thought was going to do it for me until it didn't. There was one other villain who I so wish would have been the real deal, he was so much more compelling and mysterious (if you read this, then I think you know who I am talking about).

Even though this at the start reminded me so much of X-Men, I'm proud to say that the Renegades trilogy found its own groundwork in the end. Well done Marissa Meyer, well done!

5,0 av 5 stjärnor Epic Ending
Recenserad i USA 🇺🇸 den 29 februari 2020

As a whole, I was enjoying this series while also not ranking it among my absolute favorites of all time. She is super creative with the superhero abilities and how they are used. The characters and their struggles are layered and complex. The action scenes are enthralling. But after the epilogue at the end of Supernova, I think I have to give this book 5/5 stars just from the sheer shock factor of this last chapter of the story. It totally blew me away. Involuntarily, I did the whole gasp out loud, bring a hand to my chest move. The plot twist, secret reveal, epic surprise was expertly done. There were a few other secrets revealed in this third book that were also surprising and unexpected. It does take me a bit to get into the story in the beginning of the book, but the epic battle at the end had me zoned in. I thought it played out well and wasn't a predictable step by step plan. She didn’t shy away from taking things a step farther than you would like them to go. This is both challenging and creates characters who are truly villainous. I liked where everything ended up in the end, and while I still feel like there is more that could be said, especially after that ending, I am satisfied where everyone ended up.

I guess I’m happy I finished the series, but there wasn’t anything in this conclusion that stood out to me. This book finally resolved the alter-ego plot that was dragged all the way through the ground, but only because it was forced to due to this being the last book. Really, the suspense of it died after book one because it was dragged on so long and it just became unbelievable of how oblivious the characters were to it. Though Mrs. Meyer did find a way to drag it even more into the ground in this novel. The whole time I just wanted it to be completely buried! xD

Then we move on more to Ace Anarchy himself, which resolves in a kind of predictable and unsatisfying way. There’s still a decent amount of character development for our main characters, but kind of along my spoiler comments, it could have been more complex with a better plot. But Nova and Adrian still have to come into their own in this concluding novel, which is pulled off.

The ending leaves with the plot of the trilogy resolved, but there is a thing out of left field thrown in that leaves a lot of potential for a continuation. I’m not sure I’d read it, even though I have read everything written by Mrs. Meyer thus far. Though I enjoy her characters, the plots and worlds of her other books were more interesting to me than this one. I guess I’ll see if a continuation or spin-off is ever announced. It’s already been a whole year and there hasn’t been anything.

I’m still happy I read it as Mrs. Meyer writes fun characters and it is just really easy to read.

The book arrived sooner than I expected, which I'm happy about. But I'm not happy at the state it's in. It's not as bad as it could have been. The dust jacked is fine, but the book underneath the dust jacket looked like it was beat up. There is a small tear on one of the pages, and the back board of the book looks like it was broken. And there are a few other things wrong with it (see the pictures). A little unhappy with the way the book looks to have been treated.
