Not the quality I expect from Tamiya.
In fairness, I expect perfection from Tamiya and this is a very old kit. There are moulding defects and the instructions are unclear in places.
My 7 year old needed help at times.

I brought this recently to alleviate lockdown boredom. I used to make models as a kid (many Moons ago) but haven't made one for a long time so was unsure how this would turn out.

The kit is relatively simple and all of the pieces fit together fairly well until you get to the tracks which ended up being a bit of a nightmare, as they are one piece molded flexible rubber - they're hard to join together & mine came with one way too short to fit around the wheels (I ended up having to heat them both up in warm water to get them to the correct length). They also don't 'sag' correctly as a actual tank's heavy tracks would, so I ran a needle & cotton through the centre of the track above the second wheel back & tied it off around the wheel after pulling the track down to get it to sag (top tip, plus you can't see the cotton).

I did this on a budget and don't have an airbrush to get that slick camo pattern, so went old Skool and brought some Humbrol Enamel paint - I guessed the shades so purists will probably scoff (ended up buying 63 Sand Matt for the base colour, 84 Mid Stone Matt & 160 German Camo Red Matt and some Humbrol thinners - all of which came from sellers on Amazon). Initial base coat went on in two thinned down coats & dried really well. Cammo was a disaster at first, but after working my mojo with a small brush & thinners I managed to feather out the edges of the cammo, and finished off with some very thinned washes of enamel paint, and drybushed weathering with some artists acrylics that I had hanging around (Pictures attached, I don't think it's turned out too bad).

In a nutshell:
Easy to build so not too scary for a novice (although tracks are frustrating).
Basic, but nicely molded so responds well to weathering techniques.
Good size, so not too fiddly.
Arrived on time & well packaged.

Not bad for an oldie

As others have said, this is a very old kit. Nevertheless, most of the moulding remains very crisp.

There are some deficiencies in the authenticity of the model. As this was a practice piece I’m not bothered about fixing them with aftermarket products but that is open to you if you are a stickler for accuracy (although you might just prefer to get a more up-to-date kit).

If you go for this kit I suggest looking up someone’s else’s build on the internet because the instructions are bit vague in places.

Generally the parts generally go together well. There are a few exceptions, though, so you’ll need a generous amount of superglue to hand. There are a few niggles that needed patching up; for example, the air intake filters and vents at the back show empty space beneath because there is no interior detail to the kit so I blocked them off with black paper. Also, there is no underside to the top of the hull but if you cover the engine vents you can’t really see that unless you look at the model from underneath.

The two crew figures that come with the kit look like Nazi jelly babies. They are terrible. You might want to replace them or leave out the crew altogether.

I think the finished result looks pretty good. I do have one word of warning though. The decals. Mine arrived with one corner cut out of the sheet. It happened to be the bit with the divisional insignia. I don’t know if this was due to an aversion to certain emblems by the company that sold the kit, or by Amazon, or if a previous customer had nicked them and then sent the kit back. I didn’t need the missing insignia myself but you might be miffed if you were planning to recreate a particular unit’s tank.

This is an old kit originally dating from 1969 , so not quite up to modern levels of accuracy if you are a stickler for detail , however an easy fun kit to put together ( tracks can be a bit of a fiddle )
My main gripe is the fact that the kit arrived from Amazon in a brown paper bag !! So obviously the box was crushed / damaged ! Thankfully the kit itself was undamaged and as it was bought as a kit to be built it wasn't a problem to me. Having received so many robust items ridiculously over packed in huge boxes with reams of screwed up brown paper / bubble bags , I couldn't believe something fragile was sent in a brown paper bag !!

Tamaño grande. Calidad buena. Y precio inmejorable. Todavía no he terminado pero es de fácil. Para montar las ruedas de las orugas mirar bien las instrucciones. Yo me pasé de listo y tuve q rehacerlo. La maqueta promete. Es mi primer tanque y mi segunda maqueta pero creo que teniendo claro lo q quieres puedes conseguir un buen resultado. Y aquí está. De puede mejorar peo creo que no ha quedado mal

組むだけなら割と作りやすいです、ただツインメリットコーティングをしたりすると手間がかかります。私はラジコン化したので端の転輪のシャフトがプラなのは閉口しました昔のように金属シャフトでもいいのでは、後デカールの説明が簡単すぎます（部隊章が複数ついているがどれを張るのか位置説明がない）決まった車両番号しかないので、その車両の塗装例も載せてほしかったです。

Mein erstes Modell in 1:35 und ich bin begeistert

Hallo,
als erstes möchte ich hier erwähnen, dass ich den Bausatz bestellt habe um mit dem Modellbau im Maßstab 1:35 zu starten, da kam mir der günstige Preis doch gerade gelegen ( knapp 20 Euro mit Prime). Es sei gesagt, dass dies mein erster Bausatz nach 15 Jahren Modellbau-Abstinenz war und ich nicht großartig mit anderen Bausätzen vergleichen kann. Allerdings möchte ich mir doch erlauben ein kleines Urteil zu fällen und ich hoffe damit anderen Interessenten helfen zu können.

Zum Modell; Wie schon hier in den Rezessionen geschrieben, stammt die Gußform aus dem Jahre 1969! Doch ich finde, dass für eine knapp 50 Jahre alte Version des Panther die Struktur der Wanne und der restlichen Anbauteile vollkommend ausreichend ist. Natürlich kann er wohl nicht mit einem Dragon Bausatz oder ähnlichem mithalten (dafür sollte er ursprünglich auch als Spiel-Panzer mit einem RC oder Elektromotor herhalten). Daher auch die beweglichen Laufrollen und die Gummikette ( welche für eine Gummikette schon recht realistisch wirkt).

Die Kommandanten- und Fahrerfigur welche dem Bausatz beiliegen, sind nicht ganz mein Geschmack, außerdem ist es schade, dass die Wanne oberhalb der Kette nicht geschlossen ist und man so von unten in den Panzer blicken kann ( für mein Vorhaben allerdings nicht sooo wichtig).

Alles in allem kann ich den Bausatz aber jedem empfehlen der so wie ich mit dem Modellbau neustarten möchte oder evtl ein Diorama baut, auf welchem sich ein z.B. abgeschossener Panther befinden soll, denn dafür lohnt es sich ja nicht einen weitaus teueren Bausatz eines anderen Herstellers zu wählen.

Noch einmal, mir diente dieser Bausatz lediglich um wieder in den Modellbau einzusteigen und ein paar Techniken auszuprobieren und sowohl auch mit dem airbrushen zu beginnen. Ich werde mir den Bausatz wohl noch einmal bestellen um ein Ardennen Diorama darzustellen.
