I've started collecting some different gear so that I do some overlanding in my KRX 1000 side by side. I had my eye on the very popular Firebox but happened to come across a video on Youtube where someone was using a small Bushcraft Essentials stove. I poked around some more and came across the Bushbox XL.

It didn't take me long to decide I had to have one! lol I did a small test burn on my deck and boiled some water in my Stanley Boil and Brew pot. The craftsmanship, attention to detail and the ease of use all make this a killer stove. I absolutely love it! Yes, it's a little pricey, but you'll know why when you see it up close and put your hands on it. The thing is beautiful!

It also comes with the 2 bars and cooking grate that allow you to use it in many different ways. I ordered a Trangia stove to test with it later this week. It folds up quickly and into a very thin package and goes back into the nice case very easily. Highly recommend it for anyone car camping or overlanding.

Do keep in mind it's not meant to be a "fire pit". While you can burn a lot of wood in it, you'll want to let the wood die down and create coals for cooking. Extended high heat can damage and warp the stainless steel. Hard to believe as beefy as this thing is.

No regrets on this purchase and looking forward to using this excellent stove for years to come!

Il prodotto è arcinoto, in rete ci sono centinaia di video che lo descrivono alla perfezione quindi è impossibile non sapere cosa si sta comprando. Il diretto competitor di questo fornello è il firebox stove che costa qualcosina in meno e ha qualche accessorio in più ma i due prodotti sono assolutamente simili. Una volta arrivato ho riscontrato quelli che per me erano indubbiamente dei difetti e ho contattato l'azienda per avere dei chiarimenti la quale molto gentilmente mi ha dato delle spiegazioni punto per punto che ho trovato piuttosto logiche e condivisibili pertanto mi sono convinto in realtà che i difetti fossero scelte di produzione ben precise volte in primis al rispetto dell'ambiente.
Ho dato quattro stelle perchè il prezzo a mio giudizio è veramente alto, avrei gradito un kit completo con griglia supplementare e trivets aggiuntivi con magari le spese di spedizione incluse ad una cifra attorno ai 100 euro ed invece si paga ogni singola aggiunta portando la spesa finale (con griglia supplementare e trivets supplementari) a 125 euro.
Possiedo una decina di fornelli e il bushbox xl funziona bene ma ne meglio e ne peggio di tanti altri che costano sensibilmente meno. Certo il montaggio è velocissimo e oserei dire geniale tuttavia non mi sento di giudicarlo eccellente per i motivi sopra citati.
Il peso é importante siamo attorno al kg con gli accessori, ininfluente per l'uscita di giornata assolutamente da considerare per il trekking di una settimana.
AGGIORNAMENTO DOPO 6 MESI:
dall'acquisto ho testato sul campo ben 25 volte il fornello e ribadisco le impressioni iniziali,funziona davvero bene. L'idea di robustezza iniziale trova certamente conferma anche se bisogna dire che le griglie( base o xl vedi foto) piegano e curvano parecchio durante la cottura,forse qualche decimo in più di spessore non avrebbe guastato per stabilizzarne l'assetto in temperatura perchè secondo me troppo sottili così come vengono proposte.
La custodia in cotone (la mia perplessità iniziale) sembra durevole e ad oggi non presenta segni di usura.
Pur avendoci cucinato di tutto, dalla carne al pesce passando per le varie zuppe e minestre con l'ausilio talvolta di un fornelletto Trangia ad alcol inserito all'interno, non ho ancora avuto modo di usare i trivets aggiuntivi (facili da auto costruire peraltro) e a questo punto credo di averli acquistati per niente. Anche la griglia xl è molto facile da costruire in casa pertanto con il senno di poi credo che la versione base sia più che sufficiente e che i 40 euro rispetto al combination kit + griglia xl e trivets possano benissimo essere risparmiati.

tutto bene,mi sono reso conto che non é possibile cucinare alla brace perché lo spazio é troppo poco o almeno diciamo che io non ci sono mai riuscito perché una volta che la fiamma si é sopita hai 5 minuti di autonomia prima di perdere il calore e viceversa se continui ad alimentare la fiamma tocca inevitabilmente il cibo. Ultimamente,per cucinare la carne utilizzo una padella in ghisa posta sopra al bushbox e il risultato è davvero eccellente.

Very easy to assemble, maintains its shape after multiple burns and can take some large twigs saving you constantly feeding.

Only negative is it is rather heavy for a twig stove due to the thickness of the metal but it should last years if looked after properly.

Super schneller Versand und ich bin mit der gelieferten wahre sehr zufrieden. Kann es kaum erwarten sie am Wochenende zu testen. Macht auf mich einen sehr hochwertigen Eindruck. Ein Bekannter hat sich vor ungefähr zwei Monaten die kleine geholt und jetzt können wir einen direkten Vergleich machen. Bin oft zu 2 unterwegs und er eher alleine. Bis jetzt würde ich sie jederzeit wieder kaufen.

I don’t know where to begin. I’m obviously a collector of camping stoves. I have probably 15 of them. A little embarrassed by that, but they are fun. They fascinate me. What can I say. To me, buying a camping stove is only the beginning for me. The challenge is to wire it and bring out the best in the stove. Then, if necessary, modify it to make it even better. Also, know the difference between modifying something that really needs no modification. They designed their stoves with much thought and consideration, and one must appreciate that fact and approach a stove with respect for that reality. A lot of stoves have mods you can get from the manufacturer. Pros and cons on that subject. I could go on for eternity about how some manufacturers lure you in and then hopefully up-sale you to spend more money on this or that mod. The manufacturer of this product is somewhat guilty here. The combination they sell should be the way the stove comes right out of the gate. Look, we’re all human. They are making this stove to make money. They obviously rationalized that they deserve to charge you for stuff that should have been included. I forgive them. Why? This XL is the most magical camping stove I have ever cooked on. Bottom line. This stove involves you. It makes you forage the forest for twigs and and branches that allow you pull off a long burning Swedish fire torch to cook for almost an hour with no need to tend the fire, or a quick twig fire for a hot cup of Joe. It also kills two birds with one stone. It’s not only a stove for cooking but it’s also a mini campfire satisfying the allure of watching a wood fire burn. No, it’s not designed to keep you warm, and no you shouldn’t jam it full of wood to use it that way. Yet, the fringe benefit, doing everything the right way, also generates a warming heat that cannot be denied. When those Germans put their mind to it they can out engineer everybody. You got to give it them on this one. Why it took me so long to experience this stove, I have no one to blame but myself. But, I’m home now. Just one mans opinion. I couldn’t recommend this more. Unless somebody comes out with something that turns my dial more...I’m done. Good luck.

Sehr oft im Gebrauch. Funktioniert einwandfrei. Das Feuer in der Box brennt hervorragend, was auch heißt das es schnell wieder abglimmt wenn man es nicht in relativ kurzen Abständen füttert. Kein Ersatz für ein richtiges Lagerfeuer, und auch nicht als Heizung verwendbar, aber kochen klappt einwandfrei. Habe die Box öfters schon Stunden brennen lassen, sogar mit Briketts, Hitzeverformung nur minimal bis null. Sollte sie jemals kaputt gehen, weiß ich jetzt schon das ich sie erneut kaufen werde, trotz des relativ hohen Preises.

This is hands down my favourite stove todate. I purchased this stove to enable me to have a small contained fire when I was camping and where open fires were not permitted. This allowed me to cook my food and boil my water when and where necessary. The stove has many cool features but the one feature that stands out to me is its ability to pack down flat for easy packing inside my kit. This stove literally packs flat!!! It comes in a rugged, hard wearing canvas type envelope with a velcro seal to keep the contents secure. The stove then slides out with ease and in less than 20 seconds you have a fully assembled stove ready for action! Assembly is a simple affair, all you do is open the stove apart, drop the 2 internal flaps down inside "which is helped by gravity anyway!" And you are good to go! The stove is constructed of a high quality thick stainless steel and it feels VERY robust! The build quality feels bomb proof. From a design perspective it is near flawless. The stove features a large fuel window on the face of the stove which allows for fairly chunky pieces of wood to be used to fuel this stove which in turn means longer burn time and longer burning coals which are ideal for cooking on. Another design feature of this stove is the numerous slots in which you can position the two trivets you also get included in the package. These holes also aid in ventilation for the fuel to burn. The versatility of this stove is demonstrated further with the ability to use a alcohol stove with this setup, which is a great feature if you just want to get a quick brew on but can't be bothered with getting a fire going and just want to use the stove as a impromptu windscreen. To pack the stove away simply discard the ashes (when cool to the touch!) By tipping the stove upside down, which will then allow the ash pan and ventilation grill to fall out of place and then collapse the stove and pack away, simple!

Ich bin begeistert von der Bushbox und verwende es unterwegs als Lagerfeuer-Ersatz und Kochstelle. Das Gewicht von 800 Gramm geht klar für mich. Wer es leichter möchte, kann auf die Titan-Version zugreifen. Jedoch ist der Preis für die Bushbox in der Edelstahl-Version mit ca. 100 € schon knackig. Bei der Titan-Version liegt der Preis bei ca. 160 €. Da ich oft draußen bin, ist es mir das Geld wert und ich liebe das Teil. Es macht einfach Spaß und das Feuer ist sehr schnell entfacht.

Damit sich der Stahl der Bushbox langfristig nicht verzieht, sollte man darauf achten, das die Flamme gleichmäßig auf alle Wände aufgeteilt ist. Vermeiden sollte man punktuelle starke Erhitzungen oder so Sachen, wie im kalten Wasser schnell abkühlen lassen.
Wenn die komplette heiße Kohle aus der Bushbox entfernt wurde, dauert es ca. 8 bis 10 Minuten bis es komplett abgekühlt ist. Spätestens nach 10 Minuten kann man die Bushbox mit den bloßen Händen anfassen.

Negativ anzumerken ist die dazu gehörige Transport-Stofftasche. Es ist davon auszugehen, dass irgendwann die Nähte aufgehen werden weil keine Doppelnähte verwendet wurden, sondern nur eine einfache Naht. Ansonsten hält die Tasche bis jetzt und sieht, meiner Meinung nach, nicht schlecht aus.
