The tee shirt felt light and thin so no surprise when the label stated it as a Fruit of the Loom 'Original'. I have other FTOL tee shorts, both a 'Valueweight' and a 'Heavy' and both are much thicker and heavier. The seller must be honest and state what these are - ie 'Original' and not 'Heavy'. They cannot make up their own description, it must match what FOTL label them as.
Advertised as "Heavy" but the shirts are quite thin and do not feel as though they are made from high quality cotton. They are "scratchy" and feel like a synthetic mixture. I usually wear a medium size in casual garments (38 to 40 inch chest size) and they are often slightly too big for me, depending on the brand but these T shirts are skin tight. Being of such thin material it makes them look ridiculous. Due to them being so cheap I'll not bother to return them as the cost of postage simply wouldn't be worth it. I'll not buy Fruit of the Loom again. Not the size or quality that I remember from years ago.
Way back in the Eighties and even, I think, in the Seventies, Fruit of the Loom T-shirts could be considered synonymous with real quality. I had several and they lasted and lasted and, yes, they lasted!
The weight was MUCH heavier than what is given now and the cut "back then" was always generous. Granted, I have grown a little but the cut now I found to be skimpish, without generosity even allowing for an extra size up. The real troubling area was in the quality of the material. The older t-shirts were wonderful to put on, being soft and a good size that you didn't have to struggle. They actually kept you warm and I found that the present FOTL T-shirts, well, they do not!
SO what has changed in the last years? Has quality again become a victim of price? Is there no pride in producing nice quality T-shirts? Especially when the market has so many competitors. Has FOTL given up to join the mediocre? From the looks and feel of it, they have. Shame! I won't be buying any more from them.
I thought I would take a chance on these cheap T shirts but I regret my decision. When they arrived they looked and felt OK, but after just 1 wash they became scratchy, almost crusty and very uncomfortable to wear. I have other 100% cotton T shirts that are very soft, so I thought that perhaps the washing cycle had gone wrong but after another wash things did not improve. The weight of the material is as advertised, but there is something wrong with the material, they are so uncomfortable against the skin that they are difficult to wear. I only use them for sport now.
I bought these for work so I needed some comfortable good quality t shirts as I wear them every day and this brand seems popular with work wear companies. They are not heavy nor thick. But the feel of the cotton is just weird, it’s very coarse and stiff and very unpleasant. So I returned the wrong size and gave them a wash to give the benefit of my doubt. …. No different. I can’t return them obviously, but lesson learnt there. I gave 2 stars for the fit. I’m not sure where the positive reviews are from but the cheap t shirts in my supermarket were much more comfortable.
I do not think these are original fruit of the loom. The stitching being very poor as well as the feel. I will not buy again or recommend these T shirts. I only needed them for work but not fruit of the loom as advertised. Amazon should remove them from sale.
Comfy enough shirts, material is strong. Bit smaller than expected in the fit but not a problem, I always buy bigger than I need to account for shrinkage over time. Hem stitching is crap though, every single shirt has lost the hemming around the bottom within a week, just started to come away without being caught on anything. Absolutely dire and not what I expected from what I always saw as a reliable make.
I have used Fruit of the Loom for many years, these are definitely not of the quality of the original. The price is a little over the odds for what was received and that was 3 days late.....I won't bother again.
