Edit: contracting the company through Amazon, with my order number, and had a replacement in my door step in 3 days. Amazing customer service.
I bought this during COVID, and as a result didn't go out much. Since then when I've been out, it's not been raining except a handful of times, and the brolly did it's job.
However in the last two weeks it's been in constant use. It's not windproof at all, I can't get to pick my son up from school without having it blown inside out 3-4 times, and it's only a 5 minutes walk. It's easy to set it right, just point it towards the wind and it gets blown back into place... In exchange, you get wet for a bit.
The only real way for it to stay up, seems to be to walk with it pointed slightly forward, which leaves water coming off the back of the brolly and soaking the back of your legs
Other than the lack of windproofing, and not stopping me getting wet as a result, it's a good brolly. It looks nice, opens and closes easily, and can fit in my winter coat pocket.
It came with a gaurantee, which i cant find now sadly. Would be interested in getting it replaced to see if maybe mine is just structurally defective.
I had a great, XL collapsible umbrella that was great with the wind and big enough to keep me mostly dry but it started really falling apart. I also have smaller ones for not horrible days, and when there's little wind. So I'm going to move this one into that category (though I AM expecting this one to hold up to the wind!) and throw out some of my crappier ones, and now look for a bigger one that still collapses. But this one's DEFINITELY lighter than my last one so it's definitely good for travel!
We just came through 3 weeks of major rain in Southern California and the wind got pretty bad at times too. Granted this umbrella is a little bit smallish for a full-grown guy but it's a great umbrella to keep in your car just in case you get caught in rain. The wind was so strong that twice it turned my umbrella inside out and the umbrellas spring system kept it from being broken into pieces and all had to do was give it a little flick and it went right back to normal.
This is the perfect bring-along umbrella for being caught in a rainstorm. When deployed, provides excellent coverage with a sturdy platform. The only issue is when hitting the open button on the handle. The umbrella needs a little encouragement to fully open. TAKE THIS WITH A GRAIN OF SALT tho, it could be just my unit. Other than the REALLY minor issue, this thing works excellently, even in gusty winds. Would definitely purchase again.
Really impressed with the product. Very strong for size, much better than previous windproof umbrellas I'd used. Did break on a particularly windy day but the customer service was excellent. Replacement order placed within 24 hours of umbrella breaking. Must admit I was sceptical about the lifetime guarantee but it's genuine. Will look at buying a larger one at some point. This is purely as it's not the biggest (perfect for travel as stated) but I need one for more frequent use.
I've only had this umbrealla for a few weeks but so far it has been great. It's much sturdier than my previous umbrella, which was snapped in half by stormy winds. It fits well in my bookbag and is very lightweight. The hand grip could be a little bit larger and/or more comfortable, but the umbrella is travel size so I won't complain.
