Moin,

ich bin mit diesem Leuchtmittel bedingt zufrieden. Eigentlich macht es was es soll, via WLAN einstellbar sein. An der Komponente WLAN hapert es aber gewaltig. Es ist z.B. ein großer Nachteil, dass die Leuchte nur ins Netz kommt, wenn das Netzwerk auf 2,4 GHz funkt. Das bedeutet die wirklich guten Einstellmöglichkeiten sind nichtig, da die Verbindung nicht zustande kommt oder die Leuchte sich nicht ansteuern lässt, wenn euer Router zwischen 2,4 und 5 GHz springen kann (zur Optimierung der Verbindung im Haus). Wenn es dann aber mal funktioniert, dann ist es wirklich gut.

Abschließend stört es mich massivst, dass die App zur Steuerung (wohlgemerkt die einzige Möglichkeit) eine absolute Datenkrake ist. Ich habe die Leuchte inzwischen durch die Bluetooth-Variante ausgetauscht, diese funktioniert zuverlässig.

Bedienung per Alexa funktioniert nur mit Ledvance-App

Um die Lampe mit meinen Echo-Geräten bedienen zu können, muss auf meinem Handy dauerhaft die Ledvance-App (die Bluetooth und den Standort benötigt) im Hintergrund laufen. In Alexa muss außerdem der Ledvance-Skill installiert sein. Die (teuren) Hue-Lampen von Philips lassen sich hingegen auch ohne App und Skill mit Alexa koppeln und bedienen.

Funciona bien, el problema, es que no se puede usar en distintos plataformas a lo mismo tiempo. hay que elijir entre si quieres aplicar el firmware de Alexa o lo de Homekit, es solo uno a la vez. claro se puede cambiar entre ellos como quieres, pero no se puede usar los dos a lo mismo tiempo. un poquito decepcionante, pero al final de día, es mas mi ignorancia que fallo del producto.

I received a pack of four bulbs for review as part of the Vine programme. These were well packaged. The first thing I noticed when I took them out was that they were very well finished and significantly heavier than similar bulbs I have purchased in the past.

I have some experience setting up bulbs that do not use a hub and connecting them to Alexa/Google Home. Usually bulbs setup using a manufacturer's app which is capable of complete control which then links with Alexa/Google Home. Often the manufacturer’s app has additional functions such a colour scenes, flashing in time with music etc. Once linked with Alexa/Google Home the manufacturer's app can usually be forgotten as it is no longer required for use. Most bulbs will simultaneously link to their own app as well as Alexa/ Google Home. The LEDVANCE bulbs are different. You need to choose what method of control you would like to use as swapping between methods involves setting up the bulbs from scratch again.

The first challenge with the LEDVANCE Smart+ Bluetooth bulbs is that a search for LEDVANCE app in the play store reveal at least three apps. I did not find the instruction leaflet particularly helpful in guiding me to the correct app but there is a QR code on the box which can be scanned to direct you to the correct one. The other LEDVANCE apps will not do the job. Once you have the correct app then you need to follow its instructions. There are three options when you enter the app, the bulbs can be controlled with the app (I tried this but was not happy as it seems to rely on a permanent Bluetooth connection) they can be linked with Alexa or linked with Google Home. Depending on which option you use the bulb may download new firmware. The main difference between connecting to Google Home and Alexa with these bulbs is that Google Home is fairly straightforward after a little experimentation and it works as expected, in the case of Alexa the story is different the bulbs work after a fashion but after hours of experimentation I was not happy that they were reliable so reverted to using Google Home.

This raises an important question Why buy these smart bulbs over another supplier?

Cons:
Poor instructions.
More complex to set up.
No special modes such as flashing with music and manufacturer scenes.
More expensive than many.
Problems with Alexa.

Pros:
Solid and well made.
Bluetooth mesh. These bulbs form a Bluetooth mesh with each other in such a way that you may be able to get smart lights in part of your house otherwise not accessible with WiFi.

I have removed two stars from the rating as I do not think they are the best buy for ‘normal’ Smart bulb purchase and to reflect the hours I spent getting them to work. I imagine they will be good for some users who will benefit from the Bluetooth features..

This item currently selling for £119. This must be an error surely. For this price I can buy 4 or even more HUE bulbs with a lot more feature and with better quality. It was a bit confusing that on the box it says that this item is made in Germany but on the bulb it self shows made in China. And actually it looks like it made in china, the built quality it's the same like a £5 chines cheap bulb. I think this Ledvance company buys cheap items from china, rebrand it and sell it as a quality brand. It's nothing wrong with this but selling for this price and making 500% profit is a bit cheeky. The bulb it self works OK, I had to download the Ledvance app which forced me to register an account, which is also a bit cheeky. The whole process to connect with the bulb and add it to my google assistance only took about 3 minutes. It is not the brightest bulb, i would not recommend to use it in a big room as it would not be enough unless you looking for an ambient light, It's nice that the colour can be changed, I'm using the red colour a lot especially when i'm on nightshift (home office) it just relaxing my eyes and doesn't make me to feel tired. Technically it's dimmable but only trough the app or the google assistance, if you have a wall switch with a dimmer it will not work with that, will flicker like a stroboscope.
I think i would be happy to buy this item again for maybe between £5 and £10 but not for the current price, it just not worth it.

Setup is Complicated - I've had No Issues with Bulb Flickering That Some Have Experienced

So i've spent the better part of an hour setting up my Apple Home controlled bulbs today. The instructions are minimal, just a series of pictorial charts making the short double sided A5 more inclusive internationally as written instructions are all but scarce.

In reality the setup is not a piece of cake. They are identical to a larger set from Ledvance which i've just finished installing so the steps remain the same.
I wanted to set it up over Apple HomeKit so that I can control the light remotely using a hub, which can also be done with one of the iPads set up as a hub in the absence of a dedicated Apple Hub.

These are the steps I undertook:

•The first step is, if not already setup, find the 'Home' app on the iPad/iPhone and enable it by allowing it to use iCloud.
•Download the 'Ledvance Smart+ Bluetooth' app for the App Store as these are bluetooth enabled bulbs and not the Wifi set, which has a secondary app on the App Store.
• With the Ledvance app ready on your device, proceed with fitting the bulb and switch each one 'on' and then back 'off' a total of 5 times to factory reset the bulb. On the fifth 'on' you will notice a slight delay before the illumination which signifies they're ready.
• Then follow the instructions on the Ledvance app, it'll download an update and install some firmware if it needs it and signify that it has recognised the bulbs which will appear in the dropdown.
• I then follow the same Ledvance app's instruction to either control the bulb through the app (for which need to signup to with email address and password, which found unnecessary) or transfer through to Alexa or Apple Home and click on my choice.
• Your selected choice, in my instance Apple Home, then opens up and the bulb appears in the app. It can then be set as a theme.
• A long press of your chosen bulb in the Home app will open the colour wheel. Its very rudimentary and simplified. I can't set a timer like my Philips Hue bulbs, or even set a schedule for them which is disappointing.
If im doing something wrong and someone finds a workaround for this, then I would love to hear about it.
• If you have a Apple hub, you can then connect it via the Home app so that you can control the bulbs from anywhere in the world. And if you don't have a hub, but a spare phone or iPad, this too can be used as a hub too.

I have a number of ledvance bulbs, to set them all up in this manner is time-consuming and unnecessarily complicated. My Phillips Hue bulbs took a couple of minutes to connect to the app for perspective.

Once set up, the bulb worked faultlessly, the shade adjustment has a slight delay if controlled via the third party Home app as oppose to the Ledvance app. the Laedvance app also allows more control in terms of settings with the bulb. But you do need to sign up to an account in order to do this.

The bulb quality is very good. Very well made and should last a while. But the software issues and the high price is a issue which I hope Ledvance can reconsider in time.

I like the bulb the shades, the hues it can provide and the build, so 4 stars fro them, but the app is just not user-friendly enough I would give the software 2 stars.
3 stars overall.
